Nestled in a residential Zurich neighbourhood, a new indoor ice rink is being added to the the existing outdoor swimming pool and outdoor ice rink Heuried. The signage echoes the materials of the architecture, whether smooth concrete wall or ribbed wooden façade.
The large lettering on the façade marks the building on the street-side, towards Birmensdorferstrasse; depending on the angle, the vertical slats of the façade causes the letters to shift. At dusk, the space between the letters begins to glow, making the sports centre visible by night.
Metal signage hangs from the protruding timber roof, guiding visitors to the swimming pools and changing rooms as well as designating the restaurant in the upper storey.
