The commune Steinhausen in Canton Zug gets a new look with a two-part new build. The government building with a striking ceramic façade houses both the new hall and the communal library. The gold-brown lettering echoes the material of the façade cladding at the ground level. In the interior, the enamel surfaces of the slender signage for the storeys glistens according to the fall of light, also echoing the ceramic elements of the building’s exterior.

A large retailer is renting the ground floor of the neighbouring building; the rest of the structure houses 38 senior-friendly flats, including a generous community terrace. The entrances are marked with golden-brown, anodised aluminium lettering.

The two buildings are connected in the lower level by an underground car park. Large, blue-stencilled signage guides visitors to the main entrances.
